Brought my car in for an AC recharge. Was quoted 300 plus tax. When they got the car they said it required the new coolant gas which was $540 and had to be done at a different shop. All in $972. Basically a waste of my day at triple the estimated cost.
Hi Matt, I am sorry that you were disappointed by the estimate for the air conditioning and that our cost we had quoted before we saw your vehicle was not correct, we do the best we can to provide accurate pricing before the vehicle comes into the shop. I hope there is some consolation that we did not proceed with any work without your approval and that we came in at $117.85 for the initial air conditioning diagnosis keeping to the agreed upon price for and not proceeding beyond that. I would like to clarify that the $972 you reference included: balancing the front tires and rotating them to the back for $74.33, a borescope inspection of the evaporator and replacing the cabin air filter for $168.14 , a mechanical and electrical diagnosis of the air conditioning system that includes pressure testing the system with nitrogen and inspecting for leaks using soapy water for $117.85 , Recharging and R1234YF system with a UV Dye for future leak detection for $612.58. I think it is important to note we did not proceed with any of this work without your approval. I do appreciate you making the drive all the way across the city to have us work on your VW, I was hopeful that the courtesy vehicle you drove while your car was in the shop would help you stay productive with your day and I am sorry that you feel it was a waste of time. All the best
